FUTVRST Bundle
SC7071 : Los Francisco b/w You Can't Stop Me ft. Danke
FUTVRST is the studio project of two life-long friends who started playing in bands together back in middle school near the Bay Area of California. Life eventually pulled them to opposite coasts but music kept them close. After heavy doses of studio sessions and touring band stints with artists like Tennis, Hooray for the Riff Raff, Jeff Parker, Monophonics, Wild Belle and more, the duo stayed connected over a shared obsession with classic disco (think Chic), modern groove (like Daft Punk), and a deep love for vintage synthesizers and drum machines.
Determined to capture the feel of a timeless disco record, they reunited and began crafting tracks old-school style: recording to tape, blending vintage gear with live musicians and classic drum machines. FUTVRST makes new music that feels like a forgotten classic, built for the digital dancefloor but rooted in analog soul - making them a perfect fit for Chicago's Star Creature Label.
They debuted in 2022 with a Star Creature 7" alongside label-mainstay and fellow Bay Area funker E. Live. The synth-heavy instrumental 45 featured a drum-machine driven jazz-funk livin' A Side almost sounding like a lost proto house gem forgotten in a studio of Mr. Fingers or better yet Sun Palace. The B side featured a mean muggin' groove stompin' high stepper that screams West Coast twilight funk.
Their latest release finds the duo back home at SC with a slightly updated but possibly backdated disco affair. The drum machine has been traded for an acoustic kit and some synth swaps for six stringers. The A Side serves up a California tribute, vo-coded slapper that would make Moroder catch a stank face. The B-Side delivers supreme disco boogie ala their idol Nile Rogers with Grade A Songwriting and excellently delivered vocals from studio collaborator Danke. Whereas their first outing was geared for the heads, this sophomore single will be turning all heads, ears first to the dance floor.
SC7072 : Keep On ft. Danke b/w Moment of Weakness ft. Adryon De León
The success of coast-to-coast disco duo FUTVRST's last supreme boogie 7” has inspired the group to hit the studio again with Danke as well as Long Beach’s Adryon De León for a super sequel to their double A-Sider that continues the journey on the FUTVRST Disco Train. Dressing a slick modern disco feel with the sophisticated flair of dueling synthesizer and piano, FUTVRST and Danke are blasting off with the flashy stepper “Keep On,” flexing an elegant rapport reminiscent of Luther Vandross & Change or Donald Byrd & 125th Street NYC. The B-side ups the heat as De León steps into the mix for an all-out disco throwdown, bringing soaring vocals and an emotionally-charged nighttime intensity, destined to ignite future dancefloor connections. If you had time to catch your breath from FUTVRST’s last seven inch, their next one-two punch on Star Creature is sure to be a total knockout.
