FUTVRST + Chicago Funk Band 2x7" Bundle
SC7072 - FUTVRST 'Keep On / Moment of Weakness'
The success of coast-to-coast disco duo FUTVRST's last supreme boogie 7” has inspired the group to hit the studio again with Danke as well as Long Beach’s Adryon De León for a super sequel to their double A-Sider that continues the journey on the FUTVRST Disco Train. Dressing a slick modern disco feel with the sophisticated flair of dueling synthesizer and piano, FUTVRST and Danke are blasting off with the flashy stepper “Keep On,” flexing an elegant rapport reminiscent of Luther Vandross & Change or Donald Byrd & 125th Street NYC. The B-side ups the heat as De León steps into the mix for an all-out disco throwdown, bringing soaring vocals and an emotionally-charged nighttime intensity, destined to ignite future dancefloor connections. If you had time to catch your breath from FUTVRST’s last seven inch, their next one-two punch on Star Creature is sure to be a total knockout.
SC7085 - Chicago Funk Band & True Transfusion 'No Communication'
Deeply rooted straight from The Windy City, the Chicago Funk Band unite and ignite to shed light on a rare groove, cult classic 7” 45. Originally released in 1977 on the obscure North Carolinian Witch’s Brew label. “No Communication” by True Transfusion A.K.A. Human Blood had long gone unknown until recently as it snuck its way into rotation as a still relatively obscure grail amongst heavy collectors and selectors in the global underground funk and disco circles, gaining additional light as part of The Numero Group’s Eccentric Soul: The Linco Label compilation.
In 2024, during a regular trip to Tone B. Nimble’s shop in Flossmor, Tone treated TZ’s ears to a fresh & punched up version of the now familiar tune, leading to his introduction to the Soulistic360 Crew and their monster cover. Soulistic labelhead Arnell Newman alongside Chicago Funk Band members Ainsley Strong and Eric Johnson tapped in Tina Howell for vocals, Todd Swope on bass and underground favorite Spike Rebel for further production duties. The project was crowned to completion by Chicago royalty Rahaan, who lent his talents on the arrangement and mixdown. With a nice edit of the OG on the flip and this heavy cover version right up top, this old-meets-new record is a surefire crate-staple floor-fillin party record that won’t be leaving the bag anytime soon!
