SC7084: MIA – I Don’t Know ft. Aladean Kheroufi b/w Key 2 Love

Another “Hot 2 Sider” courtesy of Chicago’s Star Creature as Miami’s MIA formally joins the roster laying down her patented Bedroom Boogie meets Dancefloor Romance vibe. The A-Side taps Toronto’s Aladean Kheroufi for a midtempo duet oozing with disco boogie bounce good vibes and a high probability of catchy earworm invasions. The B-Side gives us that Hard but Tender West Coast fiendish funk feel – holy grail sensuality with a tough-touch synth bass and a smacking clap elevating this late night lowrider souldie to a 2-step boogie bomb. Both sides produced by Gil Masuda.

SC7083: MIA – Love Me Right / Creatures Of The Night

One of contemporary boogie’s biggest grails finds its way back to Star Creature in a full circle moment much larger than 7” in diameter. MIA made her debut for Mango Hill records with 2020’s heart-shaped Valentine’s debut “Something ‘ Bout Your Love”. Shortly after, the label put out a call for producers focusing on the boogie sound at the same time Toronto’s Gil Masuda was previewing some demos looking for vocalists. Star Creature’s Tim Zawada linked the two via IG and an anthem was born.

“Love Me Right” is back in print and properly situated on the A Side delivering that bedroom meets dancefloor tough but tender gangster groove grail sound. The B-Side let’s the freakier flag fly with “Creatures Of The Night” on the prowl. Channeling the lo-fi energy of an undiscovered grail, this basement boogie is ready for the main floor, prime time fierceness served raw.
