Funky Mama / Slow Dancer

An off-the-beaten path entry from Roulette-subsidiary Strawberry Records, Life Force’s self-titled ‘76 blue-eyed funk smasher has steadily stirred up the interest of collectors and disco enthusiasts. Produced by Randy Irwin (The Shirelles, Family Circle, Ecstasy, Passion & Pain), the one-time ensemble weaves tastefully soulful horn harmonies and uptempo stank on “Funky Mama,” with collector-bait smash “Slow Dancer” filling up the B-side for a laid-back, sun-deck delight.

Dutifully restored by Chicago funk authority the Numero Group, these two choice cuts from the Life Force LP swing back into rotation on never-before-reissued 7” format. Don’t sleep!
