The Funkin’ Machine is another rising star in the contemporary Neapolitan and the wider Italian disco scenes. The band presents a different taste of Italian grooves far from the Synthwave often mislabeled as Italo Disco. The Funkin’ Machine delivers an authentic swell of warm, brilliant funky sounds filled with the hot mediterranean unmistakable groove of Naples.

Formed in the 2020 by Vocalist and Keyboard Wizard, Andres Balbucea with guitarist Ales-sio Pignorio, drummer Andrea De Fazio, bassist Vincenzo Lamagna and Paolo Bianconcini rounding out the rhythm section on an array of percussive elements. Though household names in their native country, DJs and funk fans around the world may recognize their con-tributions on albums from fellow Italians such as Mystic Jungle, Parbleu, CH.OP, Bassoli-na, Pelligrino & Zodyaco, Danger Boys and even Nu Genea.

Their first outing as a band was released in 2021 by their hometown Periodica Records’s sub label Seri Pegaso which lead to gigs around their homeland and beyond. For their sophomore LP, they continue to look beyond the borders and tap a legendary pipeline of historic sounds from Italy <-> Chicago to join the Star Creature roster with fellow Italians such as Giovanni Damico, Modula and Leones.

The group is wrapping production on an upcoming LP with the first 7” set to hit just in time for summer. The two-sided stunner features instrumental versions of two up-tempo disco floor-fillers. The A-Side delivers a cosmic jazz-funk stomper chock full of twinkling keys and a bassline that’s definitely getting its steps in. The B-Side features a driving psychedelic fu-sion of Afro-funk and Mediterranean breezes that builds and builds culminating in a Vesu-vian explosion of ear ecstasy.
