Sacrifice (XL Middleton & E. Live Remixes)
A boogie blast off 3 x 3 tag team between some of the biggest names in the contemporary disco funk game. Austin's The Vapor Caves tap heavyweights XL Middleton and E. Live for a pair of remixes that just might need to be run back-to-back for the maximum vibe extension.
The A Side gives us a giant boogie blast off proving why they call XL Middleton the Modern Funk King. The LA-based Mofunk label head crafted a custom boogie vibe for Chicago’s Star Creature Records here – a rare stray from the LA Sound that sees the producer venture to new territory that hits the mark and delivers the disco delight.
On the flip, E. Live lights the candles, puts rose petals on the floor and preps the sheets with his jazzed out, silky smooth loose juice remix. Best known for his shimmering mix of west coast space boogie and elevated sophisticated floor fillers that have graced the grooves on Star Creature vinyl for the past decade, E. Live hits all the right buttons on the way out of his spaceship studio. Laid back loungey vibes deliver another Star Creature Classic sure to stay bagged for your protection.
Digital Bonus Action: Sometimes 7” just isn’t enough so we assembled another menage a trois crew for a set of fully extended remixes sure to take it deep. Legendary Detroiter Dez Andrés serves up a bubbly dub that proves why he’s in good company alongside contemporary Motor City residents like Moodymann, J-Dilla (RIP) and Amp Fiddler (RIP).
The journey continues with 2 more Big Room floor fillers sure to fuel a fire under friendly feet. First up is another Big Room Boogie Bop of a mix courtesy of Canada’s Nicolaas. The Italians Do It Better producer has developed a reputation for lacing up some of the finest in Club Ready, Nu-Disco meets Nu-Boogie meets Nu-Electro productions and remixes. He’s remixed and collaborated with notables from Hall & Oats, to Johnny Jewel, Desire to Supertaste, Elzi and dozens of others. It’s not secret why he’s been nominated for 3 Juno’s and holds a SOCAN Echo Songwriting Award.
The 5 tracker wraps up with a peak hour festival, up tempo - down under disco banger from Australia’s Ken@Work. With a lengthy remix roster including everyone from The Weekend to Janet Jackson, Dua Lipa and even… Taylor Swift? Wow, ok – but it was his remix work with Bruno Mars and Silk Sonic that caught the ears of The ‘Caves leading to this cross-globe collaboration. Toss this one on when the floor is ready to elevate and you’ll soon see why this dude is even said to be Chaka Khan’s favorite DJ.
