Temu’s g’d up boogie take on Loose Joints’ Paradise Garage classic “Is It All Over My Face” has found itself rip-roaring back into print with a brand new pressing on 45, accompanied by a previously unheard instrumental version on the flip. For nearly fifty years, this mutant-disco banger has endured over several mutations, from the original Arthur Russell-helmed disco 12" to Underground Solution’s deep house hypnosis, only to find itself arriving back in New York City for some serious vocoder bump from a NYC Native.

New Wave Goth Boogie updated with Slap of Funk – Brian Ellis delivers the SoCal feel to Gary Numan and New Musik. Star Creature’s Tim Zawada and Brian Ellis have been working on tunes for more than a decade starting with the top-shelf boogie project Birdbone Unlimited (alongside Tim Tucker on Vocals), the psychedelic synth-jazz masterpiece In The Dark album and now most notably their cover series previously updated versions of Ronnie Griffith’s “Love Is The Drug” and Mid Air’s “Ease Out”. Now, he continues to show off his knack for exploring new musical horizons with a thick vocoder’d version of Gary Numan’s “Metal” and a feverish cover of New Musik’s driving synth-pop banger “Warp.”
Both tracks arrive courtesy of longtime Star Creature imprint Tugboat Editions and utilize Ellis’ signature fat, sci-fi-delic production to pay homage to their original versions.

TBE726 - Temu 'Running Away / Whip It'
Star Creature by way of Tugboat Editions delivers a double-stacked single, sporting Roy Ayers’ timeless crate-staple “Running Away,” a record that has probably stayed in some DJ bags for about half a century. A deeply funked up DEVO rip is found slapped on the backside, especially for the punk funk freaks. Both versions turn the intensity up a notch, lending themselves perfectly to Temu’s explosive production with slapping bass and heavy percussion. Temu's varied and explorative musical history courses through Hip Hop, Funk and R&B, and has naturally led into inventive new angles for these instantly-recognizable dancefloor bombs.
